Oh wow, they are similar indeed. Thank you for noticing. I did not realize this and neither did the testing team. We were not around at the time of MM 5 and searching for "Lines" did not find it.
I guess the current problem is more general, since the grid size N and the number of colours C can vary significantly in each test case. Also there is a limitation on the number of moves.
I can see that most people from MM 5 are no longer competing. I wasn't able to access MM 5 solutions and forums. So I am hoping that the current problem will still be interesting and provide a healthy competition.
